A secret Santa surprised customers at the Walmart in Uniondale last week when he came into the store and paid off every layaway item.
Customers say they were told to check their emails to find that they have a balance of zero.
"I felt emotional and in disbelief. I mean that doesn't happen right?" asked Vanessa Rodriguez, a Walmart shopper. "You walk into a store and your account is paid off? It was a great experience."
Rodriguez is a mother of four who works full-time and goes to school. She says this really helped.
"I just want say thank you for making it happen and for assuring me that they're still good people out there," says Rodriguez.
The store posted a "thank you" on its Facebook page, with a picture that looks to show dozens of recipts.
According to Walmart, the secret Santa wants to remain anonymous. The store says it will not be releasing the dollar amount, but it did release a statement to News 12:
"When customers quietly pay off others' layaway items, we are reminded how good people can be. We're honored to be a small part of these random acts of kindness."
