Senator Clinton kicks off re-election bid at Democratic Convention
Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) kicked off her re-election bid with a unanimous endorsement from the Democratic Party Wednesday.
Clinton spoke to the crowd of delegates about ?taking the country back,? but avoided questions of a possible run for president in 2008. The senator also noted the strength of New York's Democratic statewide ticket. She and Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, who is running for governor, are well ahead of their competition in the polls.
Clinton faces a possible Democratic primary in September from anti-Iraq war activist Jonathan Tasini. Tasini says his presence was just to force discussion about the war. Clinton did criticize President Bush for not having an exit strategy.
