(10/29/07) THE BRONX ? Some Bronx residents got a sneak peek at the newly renovated R.A.I.N. Senior Center on Boston Road Monday.
Seniors have waited five years for the renovations to be completed, but those who walked around the R.A.I.N. Senior Center say the wait was worth it. The residents say they are looking forward to the computer room, gym, sauna and steam room. Louis Mvazquez, executive director of R.A.I.N., says the sauna is the first at a senior center in New York City.
Councilman James Vacca says he?s worked hard on getting the center finished. According to Vacca, the renovations are good for the well-being of Bronx seniors. The councilman says the renovations were delayed due to problems encountered by housing officials.
The R.A.I.N. Center grand opening will take place in about a month.
