Route 303 in Orangeburg was temporarily closed both ways during the evening rush hour commute Tuesday due to an accident.

Investigators say a van carrying more than 12 workers collided with a delivery truck south of the Route 340 intersection. Witnesses say the van was going at a very high rate of speed when it hit the truck. Orangetown police believe the truck pulled out of a parking lot in front of the van.

According to police, some of those traveling in the van suffered serious injuries. The driver of the delivery truck was also injured. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
