Soaring gas prices send drivers shopping around
With gas prices soaring above $4 a gallon in some places, residents in Westchester and Hudson Valley are now shopping around for the lowest prices at the pump.
According to the Westchester Department of Consumer Protection, the price of gas rose 34 cents since April 8. Some of the highest prices drivers have seen are $4.09 a gallon in Pound Ridge and Tappan. In Orange County, drivers are faring slightly better with a $3.93 per gallon price tag at a station in Highland Falls.
Residents say they are constantly looking to save money at the pump. A Shell station in North White Plains has someone directing traffic because of crowds clamoring to get a bargain price of $3.82 a gallon.
Drivers say they are willing to go the extra mile or wait in line just to save some money.
