SPCA hosts event to fund rescue programs
Hundreds came out for the 12th annual SPCA Walk-a-Thon at FDR Park in Yorktown Saturday.
The event is the organization's biggest fundraiser supporting life-saving animal rescue programs, including one that saved the life of Peanut.
News 12 first reported about Peanut, a mixed breed dog, last summer when the SPCA rescued him from near-death and nursed him back to health.
The SPCA relies heavily on donations to save dogs and cats from abusers including Peanut's, who was arrested and charged with cruelty and neglect last year.
