A 14-year-old Spring Valley High School student is in critical condition Wednesday after being hit by a car on his way to school.
Police say Benjamin Pugh was crossing Old Nyack Turnpike with his older sister when he was struck by a minivan. Pugh was thrown about 20 feet on impact. He was rushed by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center with critical injuries to his head, chest and legs. His sister was not hurt.
Police believe that sun glare may have affected the driver of the minivan.
