Staff from the New York Department of Financial Services is in the Hudson Valley again Friday to help residents with their storm-damaged homes.
So far, federal assistance has not come in yet.
Assemblyman Chris Eachus, who represents several damaged neighborhoods, says the state needs to declare an emergency and find out how much federal funding can help rebuild.
"Take pictures. Keep receipts of any work that you do. Keep the denials, if you get denials from insurance companies, because that's the sort of thing we hope will qualify for FEMA money,” says Eachus.
News 12 is told the Department of Financial Services has already helped about a dozen homeowners.
