State Sen. David Carlucci promotes drug treatment legislation
A local lawmaker is working to get drug treatment legislation passed, one day after Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced plans to fight the state's deadly heroin epidemic.
State Sen. David Carlucci (D-38th District) met Thursday with parents who lost children to drug addiction. Carlucci also touted his plan to pass legislation aimed to help those battling addiction.
"I'm glad the problem is finally getting attention," says Suffern resident Michael Zall, who lost his 34-year-old son Jeremy to painkillers.
Carlucci's plan calls for a "wraparound" service program to make sure people do not relapse. Carlucci says he hopes to see collaboration from both sides so the bill can pass the Assembly.
