A state senator wants to know how South Blooming Grove's mayor managed to sell his home for 890% of its assessed value.
Sen. James Skoufis sent a letter to Attorney General Letitia James requesting that her office to investigate Mayor George Kalaj.
Kalaj’s 2,000-square-foot ranch was sold in March 2022 to a company named Forth Worth Holdings for $4.6 million.
Sen. Skoufis wrote to the attorney general, asking her to look into the unusually high purchase price of Kalaj's house and determine whether Kalaj is still living in South Blooming Grove.
News 12 reached out to Kalaj's office for a response but has not heard back yet.
