One Rockland County neighborhood is worrying about a lot more than just the heat!
The hot weather is bringing out poisonous snakes in Stony Point.
Resident Susan Filgueras says they come out several times a year. "When it gets hot and very dry they'll come out to sun themselves on your driveway and when they're done they'll slide off somewhere into the grass."
No one knows this better than her neighbor, Fred Hanson, 54, who was bit by a rattlesnake Wednesday.Hanson said he was trying to protect his pets when he was bitten on the finger by a 5-foot rattlesnake.
Hansen was rushed to Nyack Hospital where he was treated and transferred to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.Hanson is expected to be released this weekend.
Experts say very high temperatures can force rattlesnakes out of their daytime sleeping places in search of a cooler place to sleep.
