Stony Point police searching for man they say tried to abduct teen
A countywide alert is out in Rockland Thursday as police search for a suspect who tried to abduct a Stony Point teen.
According to police, the incident occurred along Beach Road at the intersection of East Main Street, near Vincent A. Clark Riverview Park. Police say a 14-year-old girl was walking home from school when a man in a van stopped and asked her if she needed a ride. According to police, the man reached across the passenger side of the car and the girl ran away.
Investigators say there is no reason to believe the girl is making up the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Stony Point police at (845) 786-2422.
