Stony Point road partially collapses
Half of Washburns Lane in Stony Point collapsed Friday after an old rock wall partially came down.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. when there were no cars on the road. However, several rocks from the 80-year-old wall tumbled onto a vacant garage.
Road crews had recently repaired the part of the road that collapsed, but County Highway Superintendent Charles Vezzetti says workers hadn't detected any cracks in the wall at the time.
Traffic is being diverted around Washburns Lane to Filers Lane and Route 210. Officials say it could take up to a year to repair the aftermath of the collapse.
