The shutdown of an industrial park in Cornwall due to extensive storm damage has left hundreds of people without jobs.
The Moodna Creek, which runs behind the Industrial Park, rose quickly during the storm, and flooded the buildings. Millions of dollars worth of products and machinery were destroyed.
JR Closeouts, which sells consumer electronics, is one of seven at the Cornwall Industrial Park that was devastated by Tropical Storm Irene. Owner Jay Friedman says he's still in a state of shock. "The river came up, flooded about 10 feet high. Destroyed everything."
The road behind the complex is also completely ruined by the raging river.
Business owners now have to wait for word from their insurance companies and from FEMA, hoping there will be money available to help them rebuild.
