Rumors of a student bringing a gun to Monroe-Woodbury Middle School triggered an investigation and additional police presence at the school Friday.

Authorities say students were not evacuated and no additional security measures were put in place.

The district has also released a statement on its website for concerned parents.

As a precaution, officers and state troopers will remain at the school for the rest of the day.
