Pataki recovers after emergency surgery in Cortlandt Manor hospital

Posted: Updated:

Governor George Pataki (R-NY) is said to be in good spirits Friday as he recovers from emergency surgery to remove his appendix at a Cortlandt Manor hospital.

The governor?s doctor said his appendix ruptured Wednesday and surgery was performed the next morning. Pataki?s doctor also said there does not appear to be any major complications.

The surgery put a crimp in the governor?s political plans. He was supposed to be in New Hampshire Friday to set off a possible bid for president in 2008. Officials at Hudson Valley Hospital Center say the governor may be released late Friday or Saturday.
