Hillburn water main break leaves hundreds of residents without running water
A project to install new sewers unintentionally caused a water main to burst twice Wednesday on Fourth Street and Lake Avenue in Hillburn.
According to officials, construction workers hit the water main because it wasn?t properly marked on the street. The first water main break was repaired by noon. A few hours later, workers hit the pipe again, cutting water service to hundreds of residents. A third break occurred nearby, but officials say it had nothing to do with the first two. The water was then shut off.
Department of Public Works Crews are hoping to have the water back on as soon as possible.
