Robot becomes newest member of Rockland County Bomb Squad

The Rockland County Bomb Squad welcomed its newest member Wednesday--a $150,000 remote-controlled robot.
It?s one of two new tools the team received to help them protect the public from suspicious packages. The robot, which is equipped with cameras, can take a package and place it in what experts call the TCV, total containment vessel. Once inside, the package can explode without hurting anyone. The TCV is the bomb squad's other new tool and it's also controlled by remote.
The robot also has a microphone and a speaker, so a bomb technician can talk to someone who may be in a dangerous situation.
