A 37-year-old woman was stabbed in the back repeatedly as she was leaving her Middletown apartment building Wednesday.

According to police, Patricia Guerrero was attacked in the hallway of her Main Street apartment as she was leaving for work. The assailant?s face was covered by a hooded sweatshirt and stabbed Guerrero several times in the back before fleeing.

Guerrero was able to go back to her apartment where her son called 911. She is listed in stable condition at the hospital. Police investigating the incident say robbery was not a motive for the attack. Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to contact the Middletown Police Department at 845-343-3151.
