Attorney general candidate Pirro pushes for state oversight in child abuse deathsPosted: Updated:
? A day after officially announcing her run for New York?s attorney general job, former Westchester DA Jeanine Pirro is calling for stricter oversight of deadly child abuse cases.
Pirro held a press conference outside the attorney general?s office in Manhattan Sunday, where she announced she would push to have the government look into such cases. Pirro mentioned the scalding deaths of two Yonkers brothers who were locked in a bathroom in July 2005. Pirro said the state is better equipped to handle those cases than county agencies.
The Republican AG candidate dropped out of the U.S. Senate race last month.
