Threats of violence cancel Ramapo/Spring Valley H.S. basketball game

A basketball game between Ramapo High School and Spring Valley was canceled because of threats of violence. A Spring Valley police officer, who spends time inside the school, first learned of the possible violence and notified authorities. The threats were made by outsiders against a Spring Valley player. Ramapo school officials decided to postpone the game as a precaution.
The district is expected to make a decision on whether to hold the game with extra security or without spectators in the next few weeks while the investigation continues.
