Friend rescues three teens from frigid Walden pond
Three teenage boys are lucky to be alive after being rescued by a friend when they fell into a frozen pond in Walden Thursday.
Fifteen-year-old Chris Bocart and 16-year-old Micheal Caltavuturo were playing on a frozen pond behind a home on South Way when the ice gave way and they fell into the frigid water. The boys other friend, 16-year-old Lamar Victor, heard them screaming and attempted to save them but also fell in.
Andrew Melendez saw his three friends in trouble and tried to snag them out of the pond but couldn?t. Melendez then got on his stomach and crawled towards the boys, creating a human chain to pull all three out of the icy waters. That human chain, the boys say, represents their unbreakable friendship.
