Missing convicted sex offender in Ramapo police custody
A level-three sex offender from Rockland County who has been on the run for weeks is now in the hands of Ramapo police.
After nearly a month long search, Ramapo police finally nabbed 33-year-old Michael Koval in a hotel parking lot in Ramsey, New Jersey. Koval was convicted of inappropriately touching a child under the age of 11 back in 1996. He?s required to notify authorities of his whereabouts every 90 days, however, in August Koval failed to do that. He plead guilty in October for violating that law and was scheduled to appear before a judge for sentencing. When he never showed up, a judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
Koval is set for arraignment and will be awaiting sentencing. According to the New York State Sex Offender Registry there are 18 level three sex offenders in Rockland County.Related Link: Sex Offender Subdirectory Search Login
