Family of woman killed by former co-worker in New Windsor files suit

The family of a woman who was shot and killed by a former co-worker last September has filed a lawsuit against Verla cosmetics.
Joanne O'Brien was killed when former co-worker Victor Piazza walked into Verla International and shot her along with the company's two co-owners. Piazza, who was fired from the company in 2004 for having child porn on his computer, then took his own life.
The $20 million lawsuit claims that Verla International didn't have the proper security to stop Piazza from gaining access to the building. The lawsuit also suggests that Verla knew Piazza was a threat. In addition to Verla, Victor Piazza's estate is named in the suit.
