Suspect sought in carjacking at Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack

A woman who was just trying to get some holiday shopping done at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack ended up becoming the victim of a carjacking.
Police say the incident happened Thursday when loss prevention workers from a store in the mall began chasing a shoplifter. The suspect fled the store and tried to get into one car but was unsuccessful. Police say that's when he approached a woman scraping ice off the windshield of her running car. They say the suspect pushed her down and drove off heading towards the New York State Thruway.
The stolen vehicle is a 2002 green four door Mazda Protégé with New York plate number CAJ3224. Anyone with information is asked to call Clarkstown police at (845) 639-5800.
