2006 congressional race in full swing in Westchester
The election is nearly a year away and there are already five candidates running against Republican Sue Kelly (R-Katonah) for the 19th Congressional District seat.
Kelly is in her sixth term representing the district, which includes parts of Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess counties, along with all of Putnam County. Democrats Jim Martorano, Darren Rigger and Judy Aydelott are putting in their bid for the congressional seat. Kelly is also facing a challenge inside the GOP from Jeff Cook of Monroe.
Democrats are hoping dissatisfaction with the Bush administration, especially with the war in Iraq will make Republicans like Kelly vulnerable.
