North Salem walkathon aims to raise teen awareness on unhealthy relationships

Neighbors, family and friends turned out Saturday in North Salem for a walkathon to honor Elizabeth Butler who was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend.
On June 5, 17-year-old Elizabeth Butler was stabbed to death in a parking lot in Croton Falls. Police charged her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Ariel Menendez, with first-degree murder.
Elizabeth's mother says the Elizabeth Butler Angels Foundation Walkathon is a way to raise teen awareness about unhealthy relationships. The theme of the seven-mile walk is to empower girls through counseling, support and education on relationships and domestic violence.
