Allegations of anti-Semitism surround building dispute in Blooming Grove

Posted: Updated:

Two Hasidic builders say they believe religious bias is thwarting their plans to construct a commercial building in Blooming Grove. The builders filed a notice of claim against the town, which states that anti-Semitism is behind a building dispute. According to the document, the builders were denied a request to modify building plans because they were, ?Hasidic Jews whose outward appearance evidences their religious orientation.? Town Supervisor Charles Bohan, however, says the builders indicated they wanted to build a market on the second floor, which he says is illegal since it doesn't have windows. He also said the town will not be dissuaded by claims of anti-Semitism. As for the attorneys who filed the claim, they say the notice speaks for itself and they won't debate the issue in the media.
