Schumer calls for investigation into price gouging in Hudson Valley
Senator Charles Schumer (D- New York) unveiled a new price survey across the Hudson Valley Monday, and called for a broad federal investigation into price gouging.
Despite less devastation in Texas than what was anticipated from Hurricane Rita, gas prices are slow to fall, causing Schumer to call for an investigation. Schumer says when Katrina receded the price of gas should have decreased. Schumer is asking for the president to declare an energy emergency, and for the Federal Trade Commission to investigate price gouging.
Schumer says if escalated prices stick through the holidays, it could upset the economy.
