New Windsor resident provides shelter for hurricane victims
Vincent Gerace of New Windsor is providing shelter from the storm for two families who lost their home to the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina.
Gerace opened his home to Vincent and Melissa Mangipano of Saint Bernard Parish, Louisiana after his son, a long-time friend of the Mangipano?s, called and told them to head north for relief. He also made housing arrangements for their daughter?s family and found medical treatment for Vincent, a disabled veteran.
Both families left Louisiana for Mississippi just a day before the storm struck. However, the circumstances in Mississippi were not much better.
