The family of a National Guardsman from Walden anxiously waits for him to come home after his Mississippi base was engulfed by Hurricane Katrina. Bridget Dempsey, the wife of U.S. Air National Guardsman Sgt. John Dempsey, says her husband had been training in Biloxi, Mississippi. Dempsey says her husband hasn?t been able to leave his training site since the hurricane hit. She says the National Guard didn?t realize until Wednesday night that it was running out of food and water. She says her husband and other guards have decided to launch a mission to return home.
Dempsey says her husband promised he would be home soon, and he is a man of his word.
