Warwick police officer found not guilty of sexually abusing teenage boy

Posted: Updated:

A judge found a Warwick police sergeant not guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy Wednesday.

Police Sergeant Edward Mullins was arrested in October of 1999 after a teenage boy said he had sex with Mullins. Darryl Marma testified the abuse occurred when he was 16 years old. However, the judge found insufficient evidence to support that claim. Medical records were introduced as evidence that revealed Marma was having hallucinations and was heavily medicated around the time he testified before the grand jury.

Mullins was relieved by the verdict but says his reputation has been tarnished by the accusations.
