Chemical left in trash sends two Village of Wesley Hills garbage men to hospital
A dangerous chemical left in the trash in the Village of Wesley Hills sent two garbage men to the hospital Friday. Officials say the substance spilled all over the dump truck and the two workers were overcome by fumes. Hazmat crews were able to find an unmarked container, but say its contents spilled all over the rest of the trash. Emergency officials say hazardous materials should never be dumped in the trash. Instead, they should be brought to the Rockland County Fire Training Center where they will be disposed of properly free of charge. The two men have been released from the hospital. Police are trying to determine who left the chemical in the trash.
