One police officer was injured and three police cruisers were damaged Sunday after a car chase through Nyack.
Clarkstown police say the chase started in Valley Cottage after an officer spotted a stolen van on Lake Road. Police say the driver, 19-year-old Ryan Oliver, then headed south on Route 303 into Nyack. According to authorities, Oliver ditched the van at Hudson Avenue and South Broadway and continued to run on foot into a residential neighborhood. Police eventually arrested Oliver in the woods near a church.
Police from Orangetown helped to track down Oliver. The injured Clarkstown officer was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment. Police say Oliver faces charges of reckless endangerment and grand larceny. He is being held at the Clarkstown police station.
