Investigators launch probe into bomb scare at West Nyack mall

Investigators launched a probe Thursday into a fake bomb that was planted at a West Nyack mall, causing an evacuation.
Authorities say a mall worker found what looked like a bomb in the men?s bathroom at the Palisades Center Wednesday afternoon. The mall was immediately evacuated and the Rockland County bomb squad, along with several police departments, was called in. A controlled detonation of the device was performed.
Investigators discovered the bomb was a fake but are searching for who was behind the hoax. Police says they have some leads but no arrests have been made yet. Anyone will information about the fake bomb is asked to call the Clarkstown Police Department Detectives Division at 845-639-5840.
