Chester police officer critically injured in high-speed chase

A Chester police officer was seriously injured after a head-on collision during a high-speed chase Wednesday night.
According to authorities, police were in pursuit of an SUV driven by 21-year-old Daniel Garcia of Chester. Police believe that when the SUV, which was traveling without lights, went down Greycourt Avenue and reached Main Street it turned around. Police say the vehicle then collided head-on with Officer Robert Ferrara?s cruiser. The police car burst into flames and the SUV landed on its side.
Ferrara underwent several hours of surgery and is now listed in stable condition. Police say Garcia and another occupant of the SUV were also injured and taken to the hospital. Authorities say Garcia has a drug record in New Jersey.
