Homeless man charged with assault in Rockland could face murder charges

A homeless man charged with assault in Rockland County could soon be facing murder charges.
Marion Ariel-Duque-Lopez, 21, who lives in the Spring Valley area was charged with second-degree assault. Police believe Lopez is responsible for the death of another homeless man found under the Route 59 overpass on July 5. The ongoing investigation and the medical examiner?s office will determine if Lopez should be charged with murder.
Meanwhile, the body of the man found under the overpass has yet to be identified. Investigators ask anyone who may have had contact with the man to call the Spring Valley police at 356-7400.
Lopez remains behind bars at the Rockland County Jail without bail.
