Democrat Ellen Jaffee makes candidacy for county executive official

Posted: Updated:

Political developments emerge in the race for Rockland County executive as Democrat Ellen Jaffee makes her candidacy official Wednesday.

Legislator Jaffee (D-Suffern) collected almost 5,000 signatures in order to run on the Democratic ticket against Republican incumbent Scott Vanderhoef. Jaffee says she has been listening to Rockland residents and knows what issues are important to them, such as property taxes.

Vanderhoef states the property taxes are holding steady and are even lower than when he took office in 1994. Over the next four months, both candidates will be campaigning in communities across the county.
