Health officials make push for Orange County residents to get tested for HIVPosted: Updated:
With a high concentration of HIV-positive people in Orange County, health officials are making a major push to get residents screened and educated about the disease. The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center on Washington Center in Newburgh is one place residents can get tested. At last year's event, 40 people volunteered to be tested. This year the center hopes to test 75 people or more. Officials at the center want people to know that HIV can be treated if it's detected early enough. They say there is a new oral swab test available for people who do not like having blood drawn. Oral test results come back in minutes, not weeks.
