An Airmont radio DJ awaiting trial on federal child sex charges has died in jail.
Dave Herman died at the Essex County Jail in Newark.
Herman's attorney says it appears the 78-year-old suffered an aneurysm of a major blood vessel near the heart.
Herman was being held on charges of attempting to transport a 7-year-old girl from New Jersey to the Virgin Islands for a sexual tryst.
The girl was actually a detective from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Herman was a New York City radio DJ for nearly three decades.
