A toddler nearly drowned in the pool at his house in Newburgh over the weekend.
The frightening incident happened Saturday at a house on Starrow Drive. Marceleno Perierra, 2, wandered from the house and climbed through an unlocked pool gate, according to his grandmother Kay Grey.
Grey says the boy's father found him moments later, unresponsive in the pool. Grey says her grandson had no pulse and wasn't breathing. The boy's father pulled him out and performed CPR.
Perierra is now recovering at Westchester Medical Center, after being in critical condition for two days.
Grey says she's urging other pool owners to put locks on their gates to prevent similar accidents from happening.
