Woodbury Town Supervisor John Burke died Tuesday morning at Westchester Medical Center.
Burke was at a hospital recuperating from surgery.
Woodbury town officials say Burke underwent a procedure last week and died from complications.
Burke was a high school principal before becoming town supervisor in 2006.
