15 new Yonkers police officers sworn in at Will Library auditorium

The Yonkers Police Department celebrated a new class of officers joining its ranks today.



Fifteen new police officers took the oath to serve and protect the people of Yonkers. The Yonkers Police Department welcomed new officers Thursday, at a hiring ceremony at the Will Library auditorium in Yonkers.



Family members, friends, and current and former members of the force were in attendance to witness the new officers get sworn in.



James Regan, who served the Yonkers police for 30 years, witnessed his son Brian follow in his footsteps in becoming an officer today. Regan says he is excited for his son to start a safe and long career.



All new officers will now go into six months of intestive training before they can patrol the streets. Police academy will begin on Monday.
