Cuomo's trip to Israel met with mixed reactionsPosted: Updated:
Gov. Andrew Cuomo's trip to Israel has been met with mixed reactions from constituents in the Hudson Valley.
Cuomo is heading to Israel on his first trip overseas since taking office. He, along with Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority co-leaders Dean Skelos and Jeff Klein, are heading to Israel to show bipartisan solidarity with Israel in the midst of the deadly conflict in Gaza.
Some are in favor of the trip; Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer says she agrees with Cuomo and his delegation's message of support for Israel. Others say Cuomo does not speak for them. Dr. Naseer Alomari, the principal of the Andalusia School in Yonkers, accused Cuomo of ignoring the Palestinians. Palestinian-born American Eman Eidah has family still living in Gaza and says she is just praying for peace.
Cuomo will be using his campaign funds to pay for the travel costs for himself and his staff.
