Jennifer Molyneaux and Devin Giordano plead not guilty in murder of Goshen grandmother Helen MillsPosted: Updated:
Two Orange County teenagers have pleaded not guilty to murdering an 81-year-old woman in her Goshen home.
Jennifer Molyneaux, 17, and her boyfriend, 19-year-old Devin Giordano, were arraigned in county court Wednesday.
Helen Mills was found bludgeoned and strangled to death in her home on Aug. 2. Police say the building had been set on fire to cover up her death and a burglary. Giordano allegedly told friends he was going to rob a home and knock out the woman who lived there, if she resisted. Prosecutors say he was found with some of Mills' property and traces of gasoline.
The prosecutor told the judge Molyneaux was found with blood, presumably Mills', under her fingernails. Her attorney says she was coerced into committing the crime. Molyneaux's attorney requested his client be put on suicide watch, which the judge allowed.
Giordano and Molyneaux are reportedly friends with Mills' grandson, but he has not been connected to the crime.
