Jose Padilla, of Haverstraw, seeks kidney donor

A Haverstraw family is asking for the public's help in finding a kidney donor.
Jose Padilla, 30, suffers from Alport syndrome, a rare genetic condition that damages the kidney. He had kidney failure for the second time in his life when he was 26. His mother donated her own kidney to him after both of his shut down when he was 16, but he is again in need of a new one. He has been waiting for a kidney transplant for the past four years.
Padilla is on three different types of blood pressure medication, along with a phosphorus medication. He also undergoes four-hour dialysis sessions three times a week. He met his wife, Felicia, while she was working at the dialysis center.
Finding a match has been difficult because Padilla has a rare blood type. Felicia Padilla has set up a Facebook page to help raise awareness about her husband's condition.
