Labor Day is over and students are headed back to school this week.
Among the first schools to reopen is Cottage Lane Elementary School in Blauvelt. The elementary school only houses fourth and fifth-graders, so half of the student body is brand new every fall.
Cottage Lane Elementary School principal Karen Ramirez spent her first day making sure each student got to where they belonged. Ramirez says that the teachers are excited to welcome new students.
One student told News 12 that they are happy to be back at school and meet new friends.
