Dead rooster found floating in Hudson River in Newburgh; police continue animal cruelty probe

Posted: Updated:

A rooster was spotted floating in a bag in the Hudson River as authorities in Newburgh continue an ongoing animal cruelty probe.

The animal's body was found Wednesday night inside a plastic garbage bag with its feet sticking out.

The gruesome discovery comes on the heels of two pit bulls found similarly drowned just a few weeks ago.

Police say the animals could be part of an underground fighting ring. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.

A $3,500 reward for information leading to an arrest is being offered.
