Police: Foul play not suspected after woman is struck, killed by Metro-North train

Posted: Updated:

Police say foul play is not suspected after a woman was fatally struck by a Metro-North train on Saturday.

Investigators say the 20-year-old woman from Golden's Bridge died in an apparent suicide at the Purdys station.

The woman was struck at 8:30 a.m. by a train traveling from Wassaic to Grand Central Station, creating delays for several hours.

There was no video surveillance at the platform, but police say foul play does not appear to be involved.

In February, a Somers man was found in a burning sport utility vehicle after taking his own life at the same train station.

MTA police detectives are continuing the investigation. They have not yet released the woman's identity.
