Voting in Kiryas Joel closely scrutinized
Voting in Kiryas Joel was heavily scrutinized Tuesday after allegations of voter fraud.
Citizens group United Monroe leader Emily Convers says cards suggesting voters cast ballots for Karl Brabenec for Assembly and Andrew Cuomo for governor were found at polling places in the village.
Orange County Elections Commissioner Susan Bahren says the cards are permitted, but are not supposed to be left behind or shared in polling places. Bahren has already come under fire for not allowing outside poll inspectors in the village.
Sheriff's deputies were also standing by and Orange County officials say the Department of Justice was monitoring the election. Village and county officials maintain nothing illegal has been going on.
